While the R&B-style theme song kept running through my head (Workin' with my boys and my girls at the RE-store! Workin' with my boys and my girls at the RE-Store!), a last-minute helper and friend Steve Ruddy came to join in on the fun today. Thank goodness he did, because there was a lot of heavy hauling in store.
So Tell me More About Habitat ReStore...
All purchases at the ReStore stay in Lexington and benefit the Lexington Habitat for Humanity efforts. The prices all start at at least 50% retail, plus you can get some real bargains. A friend of mine said he thought he bought an incorrectly-priced couch at $14 once, but Cat assures me, "Nope, this is one of our price points!"
Donating items as well as purchasing them here keeps items out of landfills. Can you imagine all that paint in a landfill? Yuck, no thanks.

Deconstruction
As mentioned above, the Deconstruction Team can come to your home and disassemble/haul away what you need to donate after a renovation project.
Paint Recycling and Purchasing Program
The Lexington Habitat ReStore Recycled Latex Paint is made right here in Lexington, Kentucky by volunteers. The program is in partnership with the Lexington Fayette Urban County Government and the Division of Environmental Quality. By purchasing this paint you help keep more than 5,000 pounds out of Central Kentucky landfills every day, and also support Lexington Habitat’s mission to build simple, decent, affordable homes.
